Journey Through Country
is a new play about Governor Macquarie’s 1820 journey through the Goulburn region from Wallandilli to Weereewaa. It has been written by local playwright Jennifer Lamb for Goulburn’s Lieder Theatre. Due to Covid-19 restrictions Journey Through Country will be performed outside on the Mulwaree Plains on at 3pm Saturday 17 October. Covid-19 safe conditions apply
Journey Through Country considers dispossession and possession. It is based on the journal Governor Macquarie wrote as he journeyed through the Goulburn region in October 200 years ago. Permeating his historic journey and this play is the unseen presence of Aboriginal custodianship of the land.
